Those Crafty Clinique Ladies.
So if you're ever feeling a little sensitive or insecure my advice is to avoid department store make up counters! Since our move my skin has been going nuts. It can't decide if its oily or dry but it has decided to look terrible. So I decided it was time to give in and get some really good skin care products. So off to Macy's and the Clinique counter. It was strange. Those women were good. They sat me down and stated pointing out all the bad things about my skin. But they were so sweet and assured me that they knew just what I needed to fix it so I could feel pretty again. I was so depressed by the time they were done pointing out every flaw, I would've bought anything! It wasn't until I was sitting in my car that I realized what had happened. Thankfully I kept it together and was able to resist buying the crazy expensive tiny jar of lotion/liquid gold they tried to talk me into and stuck to what I'd planned on buying.

One year old!
It's a big day for our family not only is it Calvin's birthday but it's the start of March Madness! I remember talking to Eric last year about how I got too emotionally invested in the tournament and that I wasn't going to do a bracket this year. If only I had remembered a few days ago. We're only one day in and I've already been far too stressed.
But more importantly my baby is 1! I can't believe it's already been a year. He's such a little guy compared to how big his brother was at that age that it just doesn't seem right. We LOVE that tiny guy with the big blue eyes. He's such a sweet easy going kid and so much fun.
My sister Michelle at Orange Lily Photography took the pictures. They turned out so great!

Let the madness begin! A Two-year-olds bracketology.
It's March so that means non stop talk of brackets. In the past few years Eric has gotten into March Madness and has pulled all of us into it with him. Last night was the first night to fill out brackets. We get Silas involved by letting him fill out his own bracket. Last years method was putting chocolate chips on cards with the team colors on it and which ever chip he ate first was going to win that game. He had LOTS of fun. And was bouncing off the walls from all the chocolate. But his bracket came in last out of the whole family. This year we took 16 of his cars and assigned them a number 1-16 then set them up in pairs to represent the first round for one of the regions. We then asked him which car would win. We had to go through this four times (once for each region). We eventually had to start putting mini m&ms on the cars to keep him focused. But he finished his bracket. Hopefully he does better than last year!

Dye job
So after having the boys my hair has totally changed. Pregnancy does weird stuff to a person. My hair used to be straight but now it is crazy wavy. Used to be very light blonde and is now light brown. I miss my blonde hair but I'm too cheap to pay for a professional to do it. But after some pumping myself up and convincing myself that the worst that could happen is I'd have to go get a professional to fix my mistakes, I did it! Thank heavens I didn't mess it up! I'm very proud of the way it turned out. Here's the before and after.

Eric the Puppy Stylist
Since moving to Idaho we've been watching my parent's puppies. We are trying so hard to love them but we've realized we will not be dog people in the future.
Anyways, we try to keep their hair short to keep them form making the house smell like dog. I'm usually the one that trims them every couple of weeks and I am not good at it. Their faces are always uneven which drives Eric crazy. So when I trimmed them yesterday Eric came home from class and decided he was going to make them look like the poodles they are. Here's Mitt's before picture and both dogs after. :)

Coconut oil hair mask.
So I tried out the coconut oil last night. I went to WalMart and got a 16 oz jar for $10. I followed the direction from this blog: http://made2style.com/2013/02/18/coconut-oil-hair-mask/
I would've taken pictures but the girl on that blog looked way cute while doing it and I did not. So just look at her pictures. :)
It went well besides having to wash my hair 4 times to get the oil out. Twice with just shampoo like the blog said, once with shampoo mixed with baking soda and one more time with dawn dish soap. But once it was out my hair really does feel so soft. I may be a new convert to coconut oil.

I forgot I had a blog!
So I forgot about blogging after Calvin's arrival. It's been almost a full year! Wow that went fast. Things were VERY stressful after the addition of Calvin and I have no idea what I did with all my time when it was just me and Silas at home all day. I'll probably think the same thing after we have another kid. The first few months after having Calvin were pretty horrible. I had a hard time healing from the C-section and then also had to deal with the crazy emotions that take over after having a kid. My stress relief was running but the more stressed I got the more I ran and my body was not ready for all that work so now I haven't been able to run for months now without feeling like my knees will be the death of me. So now my stress relief is pinterest and cleaning. When I start feeling overwhelmed by being a mother I find myself a project that will give me a little feeling of pride and accomplishment. It's been working great. This was my project this weekend. Silas has one pair of jeans with no holes and the rest had giant holes in both knees. But not anymore! I found a pin that showed how to mend the holes but I guess I didn't repin it. Oops! and then I read on a blog about just seam ripping open one of the sides so you can get to the knees. It was amazing! I feel so dumb. It was just so simple and now Silas can wear all his pants without getting cold little knees.
Other stuff that's been going on is we are now in Idaho while Eric goes back to school to get his Civil Engineering Degree. I'm SO proud of him. I know he was not really excited to go back after graduating once but he really wanted to be a civil engineer and things were just working out perfectly for him to go back to school so we packed up and moved back to Idaho. We're watching my parent's house and dogs while they're on their mission. The boys LOVE having puppies to play with. Eric and I aren't the biggest fans but we're hoping they'll be a little more fun once all the snow melts and they can play outside a little more.
We just got over a nasty case of the stomach flu. Calvin and I got it the worst. I'm so happy to be done cleaning up vomit. At least for awhile hopefully.
Calvin and Silas are the best of friends. They now share a room and they have so much fun. We had to move their bed time up by an hour because after we put them to bed they stay awake for another hour talking from opposite sides or their room. It's pretty cute and just as long as Silas stays in his bed we let it slide.
My next project I'm going to attempt is using coconut oil as a deep conditioner. I've got to see if that stuff is really as amazing as I keep hearing.
